Improved UX to Simplify Membership Records
Today, we're excited to release a long-time improvement to Membership Records! Unlike many of our recent releases, this didn't come as a result of direct feedback - however, it came by observing common issues that would cause organization admins to contact our support team.
May 4, 2022
Issues we wanted to address:
- Organization admins didn't know how to cancel automatic rebilling payments
- Organization admins were confused on how the 'Expiration Date' interacts with the Rebilling Date
- Organization admins would change the status of a Membership, but not update the Expiration Date.
- Organizations admins would accidentally input values into the 'Expiration Date' or 'Joined Date'
- Organization admins didn't know how to switch Memberships between Membership Types
To address these issues, we:
- Decoupled the inputs for updating the Joined Date, Expiration Date, and Membership ID -- this prevents accidental updating
- Added notifications for when a Membership is in an unexpected state (e.g. If the membership is 'Active' but the 'Expiration Date' is in the past)
- Added a strong 'Call To Action' for switching Memberships between Membership Types
- Improved the location of the 'Stop Automatic Rebilling' option
We're excited about these improvements - and we hope you are too!
If you have any additional feedback, then don't hesitate to reach out and let us know!

With this approach, larger organizations, who use the service to process more memberships, end up paying a bit more. Additionally, it aligns Join It and our organizations, so that we're not making money unless you're selling memberships.
