We spent 2025 listening to your feedback, building solutions to your biggest headaches, and rolling out features that make running your membership organization feel less like work and more like... well, not work.

Here's the thing: we didn't just add features for the sake of it.

Every single update on this list came directly from conversations with organizations like yours. Real problems. Real solutions.

So let's walk through the 27 updates that are changing the game for membership organizations in 2025.

Top 5 Features

  • Multi-Chapter. Manage HQ and chapters from one place, with roll-up reporting that gives instant visibility without manual tracking.
  • Donations. Let members donate easily at key moments to unlock a simple new revenue stream, without extra tools or setup.
  • Push Notifications. Reach members instantly on their phones for reminders, updates, and announcements without relying on email alone.
  • Kiosk Check-In. Speed up event check-ins with a self-serve experience that reduces lines, admin work, and on-site friction.
  • Post Comments. Turn announcements into conversations by giving members an easy way to respond, engage, and feel involved.

Member Management & Directory Updates

1. Hide Individual Members from Your Directory

Sometimes you need someone in your system but NOT in your public directory.

Maybe they're a VIP who values privacy. Maybe they're staff. Maybe they just asked nicely.

Whatever the reason, you can now exclude specific memberships from appearing in your Member Directory without jumping through hoops.

How it works:

Go to Portal Settings, find Opt-Out Memberships, add the member ID, and save.

Done.

No need to create weird workaround membership types or mess with permissions. Just clean, simple control over who shows up where.

2. Set Age Limits for Memberships

Running a teen program? Adult-only classes? Senior memberships?

You can now require minimum and maximum ages on any membership type.

Set it to 13-17 for your Teen membership. Make your Adult plan 18+. Create a Seniors program for 65 and up.

The system enforces it automatically at checkout, which means no more awkward "sorry, you don't qualify" emails after someone's already signed up.

3. Age Verification at Checkout

Here's where it gets even better.

When age restrictions are enabled, the system now enforces birthdate collection during checkout.

Translation: Only eligible members can complete the sign-up process. No loopholes. No manual checking required.

4. Transfer Individual Members to Group Plans

Ever had someone sign up individually and then want to switch to a family or group plan?

Used to be a whole thing. Forms. Calculations. Headaches.

Now? One step.

The updated transfer tool sets up the new group automatically and keeps billing intervals aligned.

Try it yourself:

View Members in your portal, select a member, click "Switch" next to Membership Type.

Magic.

5. Drag-and-Drop Reordering of Membership Benefits

Want your most compelling perks at the top where members actually see them?

You can now rearrange benefits inside any membership type by simply dragging and dropping.

No more deleting and re-adding items just to change the order. Keep your best stuff front and center.

6. New Kiosk Check-In Panel

Self-service is the name of the game.

Enable kiosk mode and let members scan their digital cards to check in.

Reduces wait times. Frees up your admins. Makes everyone's life easier.

7. Store Phone Numbers in International Format

Small update. Big impact.

All phone numbers are now collected with country codes and stored in a consistent format.

This makes them easier to manage, sync with tools like Mailchimp, and (spoiler alert) ready for upcoming SMS features.

8. Enhancements for Group Memberships

Managing groups just got way less painful.

Based on your feedback, we simplified how Org Admins handle groups.

Key actions like adding a payment or updating expiration dates can now be performed for the entire group at once.

No more handling individual memberships separately. Because ain't nobody got time for that.

Communication Feature Updates

1. Push Notifications

This is huge.

You can now send push notifications with Quick & Easy Messages.

Pick your audience, write your message, preview it, and send. Notifications reach members who added their Digital Membership Card to Apple or Google Wallet.

Perfect for quick updates, last-minute reminders, or special member perks.

How to use it:

Go to Emails, click Quick & Easy, hit New, choose Push Notification, set your audience, and send.

2. Send Digital Membership Cards by Email

You can now send digital membership cards in bulk with Quick & Easy Emails.

Filter by membership type, status, join date, or expiration date. Then send.

The system only delivers to members whose membership type has a digital card configured, so you won't accidentally spam people.

Test it yourself:

Go to Emails, click Quick & Easy, then New. Choose Digital Membership Card as the template, set your audience, and send a test.

3. Post Comments Are Now Open

Whether you're collecting feedback, sparking discussion, or encouraging members to share experiences, you can now enable comments on posts.

Create actual conversations. Build real community engagement. Make your member portal feel less like a bulletin board and more like, well, a community.

4. Personalized Emails with Merge Tags

Merge Tags make personalization ridiculously easy. Insert member details like names and membership types directly into emails for a more engaging experience.

Because "Hey Sarah" hits different than "Dear Member."

5. Enhanced Renewal Reminders

Organizations now have way more control over renewal reminders.

What's new:

  • Send renewal reminders after the expiration date (yes, really)
  • View and manage reminders more easily in the dashboard
  • Set reminders to 'Draft' before activating them
  • Send a test reminder before launching
  • Create one reminder for multiple membership types

Translation: Fewer missed renewals. Less manual follow-up. More recurring revenue.

This helper text supports up to 175 characters, perfect for adding instructions, examples, or extra context.

Fewer confused members. Fewer support tickets. Everyone wins.

4. Require Real Answers in Dropdowns

No more blank submissions or default selections slipping through.

Members now see a "Please choose" placeholder as the first option in dropdown custom fields.

If the field is required, they can't submit until they pick a real value.

Try it yourself:

Go to Membership Types, click Custom Fields, then Edit (Dropdown). Mark the field Required if needed, then Save.

5. New Custom Fields: Images, Dates & Phone

This was highly requested, and we delivered.

You can now create custom fields for images, dates, and phone numbers.

Members can upload photos, select dates, and provide contact details during sign-up.

Greater flexibility. More customization. Better data.

Payment & Checkout Feature Updates

1. Apple Pay & Google Pay at Checkout

Mobile checkout just got lightning fast.

Members can now use Apple Pay and Google Pay in the Member Portal.

Faster payments mean fewer drop-offs and higher conversions. It's that simple.

Set it up in minutes

2. Support for 11 More Currencies

You can now collect payments in 11 additional currencies to better serve your international members.

View all supported currencies

3. Smarter Duplicate Member Check

Nobody wants duplicate accounts clogging up their system.

If someone enters an email already on file, we now show a clear Log In prompt right on the checkout page.

Reduces duplicate sign-ups. Keeps your records tidy. Makes everyone's life easier.

4. Check Membership Status on Bookings & Orders

This one's a game-changer for organizations using third-party booking or e-commerce tools.

When someone books an appointment, reserves a court, or buys a member-only product, the system automatically checks their membership status afterward for verification.

Real-world examples:

  • A coworking space using Acuity checks memberships when appointments are made
  • A tennis club using Skedda verifies memberships when courts are reserved
  • A wine club selling member-only products on Shopify validates memberships when orders are placed

Setup is simple and runs automatically in the background via Zapier.
