About VRIC

Valley Ranch Islamic Center was established in 2009 to serve a diverse and growing Muslim community in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. The center provides daily prayers, Friday prayer, study groups, Ramadan programs, Qur’anic school, and a medical clinic. The mission is to offer a safe, welcoming place to connect, pray, learn, and grow while contributing to charitable causes across the wider community.

The challenge

VRIC had been using a previous all-in-one system where simple membership tasks were hard for both members and admins. Members could not update payment details or login credentials on their own. The secretary had to manage large spreadsheets, handle duplicate records, and send manual renewal emails.

“It should not be so difficult. We had 400 plus people in spreadsheets and I was fixing reports every time.”

Why Join It

In 2025, the team moved membership to Join It in order to streamline signups, reduce manual work, and give members true self-serve control. The deciding factor was digital membership cards, which VRIC wanted for on-site perks and partner discounts.

“Join It felt straightforward and focused on membership. Members could manage their own details. That was the turning point.”

Implementation

VRIC migrated existing members, then ran simple membership drives after prayers. Volunteers set up a table, displayed a QR code, and guided people to sign up on their phones. Join It’s login and checkout felt simple for attendees and removed the need for an admin to sit in the middle of every change.

Results

Digital cards that people actually show

Members add their Join It card to their phone and present it for perks and verification. Cards include a photo, which helps with quick ID. Businesses and event staff recognize them right away.

“People just pull up their card on their phone like Apple Pay. It looks official and it is fast.”

Renewals that run themselves

Automated emails go out before expiry and on the renewal date. Members can enable auto-renew and update payment methods without asking an admin.

“I set three renewal reminders and watched renewals come in. Around 85% to 90% of members are now on auto-renew.”

Less time on admin, more time for community

Self-serve accounts and automation have reduced repetitive tasks. The secretary no longer keeps multiple tabs open to chase expirations or fix bad exports.

“I spend far less time chasing payments. If I need to jump into Join It, I do what I need and close it. One less thing to worry about.”

Reporting that is clean and usable

Exports deliver one record per member with only the selected fields. There is no duplicate cleanup and no mix of unrelated records.
